It’s true.  Your story is intriguing to people. You may think that it is ho-hum and boring, but people really want to know how you got into the business and what you do on a daily basis. Engage your audience with these simple 5-quick tips!

#1 – Tell your story as an experience. Before it has investors, customers, profits, press releases, or even a perfected product, every startup has at least one valuable asset: IT’S STORY. Think about it, write it down and then TELL it!

#2 – Tell your audience about your Journey.  Who are you? Where did you come from? Why are you doing this? Every aspect of YOU is what is interesting.  It’s what people want to know!  Just make sure it’s the truth, as lies will kill your business faster than anything else.

#3 – Not Everything Was Perfect.  Share what obstacles you faced and what you learned through your small business journey.  This will help your customers relate to you as a person, not just as a business owner and it will connect you to other owners so that they feel comfortable doing business with you.

#4 – Share what works for you and why.  Do you facebook ads? Flyers/Coupons?  Do you use a certain customer loyalty program that has really helped your business?  Share this with your audience.  Not only will they learn about a program they may not otherwise have known about, they will learn WHY it has worked from YOUR perspective.

#5 – Share what inspires you to continue with your small business.  Even after the grumpiest customer leaves the store, what makes you continue the daily grind?  Why are you passionate about your business?  Telling this to your audience makes them feel like they are a part of YOUR bigger picture and they will take pride in knowing they helped you achieve that in a small way!

We hope these steps guide you in the right direction when it comes to telling your story.  Divine Marketing Group offers a 1-hour complimentary consultation on ANY aspect of your business.  Give us a call, we would love to hear your story!
