Tip 1: COMMUNICATE: We now live in a NEW World because so much has changed in the last 3 months. That’s why it is important to communicate without sounding insensitive. The first thing I want you to do is, to BE HONEST. It is not a sign of weakness to say you’re struggling right now and could use the support. There are many consumers out there who do have an expendable income and are in a good position to support their local businesses and they want to.

Tip 2: SAY IT ON SOCIAL MEDIA: Being present is number one! Sharing helpful content is important during this time and is something that can help small businesses stay top-of-mind. People need a diversion from the news. Show your audience how to get prepared now to make their dreams a reality when life returns to the NEW normal.

Tip 3: HOW OFTEN TO COMMUNICATE: How often should people be communicating on social media right now? At least once a day, particularly if you have meaningful updates to communicate (new stock, new menu items, re-branding, what’s sold out, deals/offers/coupons). If you have less to say, still go for 3-5 times a week (due to the ‘wanting to see something else’ right now phenomenon.)

Tip 4: VALUE IN ADS: Can small businesses find value in running social media ads right now? The answer is YES, yes, yes. Not only have we seen a significant drop in the cost of cost per click, there is more activity on social media now more than ever. This is a great opportunity to get your brand in front of your audience.
