Autumn in North Carolina is a beautiful season, but it’s not just the scenery that comes alive! North Carolina communities host a variety of festivals that celebrate everything from food and music to heritage and art. During our September blogs, we are going to shout out festivals you don’t want to miss that span from the coast to the mountains of our beautiful state.
Monday, September 8th: In our first blog, we venture to the Eastern part of the state, where the coastal charm blends with local traditions. We explore festivals that showcase the best of the sea, like the N.C. Seafood Festival in Morehead City and the N.C. Oyster Festival in Ocean Isle Beach. We also look at how Eastern NC celebrates its unique identity with events like the quirky Mullet Festival in Swansboro and the beautiful MumFest in historic New Bern. These festivals are a testament to the region’s strong coastal culture and community spirit.
Monday, September 15th: Next, we examine the very heart of the state, Central North Carolina. This region is a melting pot of culture, and its festivals reflect that diversity. We highlight the iconic North Carolina State Fair in Raleigh, an event that is a true celebration of the entire state. We also look into the delicious world of the Barbecue Festival in Lexington and the artistic charm of the Wilson Whirligig Festival. Central NC’s festivals are all about big traditions and vibrant community gatherings.
Monday, September 22nd: Lastly, we head to the beautiful Western part of the state. Surrounded by the stunning Blue Ridge Mountains, the festivals here are created with mountain heritage and natural beauty. We discover the sweet delights of the North Carolina Apple Festival in Hendersonville and the fun of the Woolly Worm Festival in Banner Elk. We also touch on the magical journey of Autumn at Oz and the classic family fun of the Mountain State Fair. Western NC festivals offer an escape to a beautiful autumn wonderland.
As we celebrate a new season and our wonderful state, be sure to tune into our blog each monday to learn more about the different celebrations we have across North Carolina!
